The health data we collect, and why
- Daily step totals, with the dates they’re for. We use them to show your steps and rank on your board and in challenges, to work out challenge results, and to send notifications about your friends and challenges.
- Your daily goal, whether you reached it each day, and your streak, worked out from your step totals. We use them to show your goal and streak.
We don’t use your health data for advertising, we never sell it, and we don’t use location or geofencing of any kind.
Your consent
After you make an account, the Connect Apple Health screen asks for your agreement with two separate ticks: one to save your daily step totals, and one to show them to friends you accept and to people in challenges you join. Sole Mates doesn’t read, collect or share your step data until you’ve ticked both. Both are needed to use Sole Mates, so you can’t go on without them, and if you don’t tick them, nothing is read, collected or shared. You can take either agreement back at any time (see Your rights).
Where it comes from
Apple Health on your iPhone, which can get steps from your iPhone, an Apple Watch or another device or app you’ve connected to Health. Your goal comes from you.
What we share, and with whom
- Friends you’ve accepted see your step totals for the last 7 days and your rank.
- People in challenges you join see your step total for that challenge and your rank, during it and in its results.
- Supabase, the service provider that stores our database and runs our server code, holds your step data for us and only on our instructions.
We don’t share it with anyone else. We have no affiliates, and we don’t sell health data.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- confirm whether we collect, share or sell your health data, and see it, along with a list of everyone we’ve shared it with;
- withdraw your consent to collecting or sharing it: turn off Steps for Sole Mates in Apple Health, or delete your account, or email us;
- delete it: use Settings, then Delete Account in the app, or email us. If you email us, we’ll delete it within 30 days. Either way, copies in backups are gone within 7 days of deleting it, and we tell Supabase to do the same.
Email [email protected], from the address on your account if you can, so we can confirm it’s you. We’ll reply within 45 days, or tell you within that time if we need up to 45 more. If we turn down your request, reply with “Appeal” and we’ll answer within 45 days. We won’t treat you differently for using these rights. If you’re still not satisfied, you can contact the Washington State Attorney General at atg.wa.gov or the Nevada Attorney General at ag.nv.gov.
